Speed Skating Meets allow skaters to compete in a fun and friendly environment. Our Club hosts a Short Track and Long Track Meet each season.

Western Canadian Outdoor Long Track Classic 2026!
This event focuses on competitive events that are used at the national level, such as Canadian Youth Long Track Championships and Canada Cups. This event will be an open competition with skaters from across Canada and the United States welcome to attend. This is an annual event hosted in collaboration with Speed Skating Manitoba, Speed Skating Saskatchewan, Speed Skating Alberta, and Speed Skating BC to preserve outdoor speed skating venues in Western Canada. The Red Deer Lions are excited to host in 2026!
Short Track Meet
Our Annual Short Track Meet is the first Saturday of November.

Long Track Meet (January)
We host the Jeremy Wotherspoon Open Long Track Meet each January at Setters Place.
For the 2025-2026, we will host the 2026 Western Canadian Outdoor Long Track Meet.

This event will be offered as an open competition, wherein skaters from across Canada and the United States are welcome to attend.
